Guam - The Department of Public Health has sent out 154 letters to patients who were exposed to a Guam Memorial Hospital employee who tested positive for active tuberculosis. TB administrator Cecilia Arciaga says the letters were sent out last week recommending that mothers who were in the labor and delivery ward get a skin test while their children are urged to get a chest x-ray and receive preventive treatment.
The GMH employee was exposed to a number of other hospital workers as well as patients in various units. Hospital officials are also working on conducting further testing on those staffers who may have been exposed to the case of active TB, as well.
