Guam - Pete Calvo may have undergone a confirmation hearing, but his appointment to serve as the director of the Department of Parks & Recreation lapsed evidently because public law mandates a Parks and Recreation Commission select the agency's director. As a consequence, Governor Eddie Calvo appointed him as the deputy director of the agency.

Oversight chair Senator Tina Muna Barnes said, "It was not the legislature who failed to confirm Mr. Calvo, it is the Administration who needs to send down the appointees so that I could facilitate the public hearings to get these commission members on board."

A confirmation hearing was held today for at least three of the appointees to the commission. According to Senator Barnes one more appointee would make a quorum.
