Guam - There's a new acting director at the Department of Public Health. Jim Gillan was appointed by Governor Eddie Calvo to lead the agency last week Monday. This is the third such appointment to the job, prior to Gillam assigned to serve was Art San Agustin and Linda Unpingco Denorcey.
Gillan bring close to four decades of experience to the agency previously serving as Public Health's facilities manager, planning administrator and deputy director. Most recently he worked for PMC Isla Health Systems. He is an army veteran and holds a Master of Science Degree in Health Services Administration from Harvard University School of Public Health.
15 players from Guam's men's national soccer team are in San Diego for training camp. Matao Head Coach Karl Dodd says, "We are using this camp to evaluate the players off-island and to implement the new professional standards and playing style to those players."More >>
He was on joyride in a stolen car for a month before police finally caught him. And get this - the reason he took it - he admitted he felt that someone told him to after he smoked meth. Peter Tomas Blas Aguon is charged with theft of motor vehicle. Police say a rental car was reported stolen from the Westin last month. A company employee spotted the car on Friday and followed it to a home in Dededo. That's where authorities made the arrest. The suspect admitted to the theft.More >>
