Guam - This year's girl's high school basketball season tipped off at gyms around the island. The Simon Sanchez Sharks played host to the visiting Harvest Eagles, as Nieves Cabreza hit a key jumper for the Eagles.

Sanchez controlled the tempo of the game, running on the break Kristine Redolozo showing her speed blowing by the defense for the lay up off glass. Back the other way Felecia Alumbaugh comes up with the steal for Harvest and gets the easy 2 points. The Sharks with some good defense of their own, Virlynn Gustillo with the loose ball, shots off but teammate Gilda Oyardo got the rebound and puts it back up for a score.

Cabreza did all she could to try and keep the Eagles in the game knocking down another shot, high off glass.

The Sharks held it down at home, winning 64-31, Kiana Castro led all scorers in the win with 16 points, with teammate Coriana Narcis chipping-in with 15.
