Guam - Thirteen of the island's most talented youth poets will be competing for a chance to represent Guam at the "Brave New Voices" event this summer in San Francisco. Event coordinator Melvin Won Pat Borja says the top six will comprise Team Guam.
Southern High student Gee Quintanilla says the experience has offered her a lot of opportunities, telling KUAM News, "It actually started out as extra credit and I wasn't expecting to qualify, but it happened...I'd say and I think other people would say I am a little less shy then I was before and I think I've opened my mind also."
The grand slam finals will take place tomorrow at 6pm at the GATE Theater in Tiyan.
