Guam - Repairs will finally get underway for Southern High School's gym and fine arts auditorium. The invitations for bid were announced today. According to deputy superintendent Taling Taitano, the Department of Education is gearing up to announce more bids for capital improvements very soon.

She told KUAM News, "We're hoping in the next couple of weeks, we'll have the roof project out for bid and that's going to be for roofing repairs to all of the roofs in our district except for our lease schools and after that, we hope to get our bid out on the replacement of doors and windows."

Taitano says the architectural and engineering firm is assessing electrical systems in the schools. In addition, they're also looking to see if it would be feasible to include fire alarms and security systems into one bid. In the meantime, she says the review of contracts at the Attorney General's Office has been a smooth process.
