Guam - The Government of Guam will receive $1 million in an exchange planning and establishment grant from the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services. A new release from Congresswoman Madeleine Bordallo states the grant will allow the Department of Revenue & Taxation to survey small businesses and collect data on insured and uninsured employees.
The funds were appropriated through the Affordable Care Act of 2010, which will create a health insurance exchange in each state by 2014. Guam and the other territories are eligible to opt into the exchanges by that time, however of GovGuam elects not to participate then the funds will be used to supplement Guam's Medicaid program.
