Guam - The Department of Corrections is doing their part to help with the overcrowding situation at the Department of Youth Affairs. While the agency is working to resolve its shortage in staffing, DepCor spokesperson Lieutenant Antone Aguon says they are utilizing the inmates at the Adult Correctional Facility to restore a facility at DYA that has not been in use for sometime.
"We have four of our inmates, three from Minimum In and one from Minimum Out who are at DYA working on one of the buildings there. One of the buildings is being renovated. It's a partnership between the DOC and DYA director in an effort to help them with their overcrowding," Aguon said.
Aguon also made assurances the inmates are being watched by DepCor officers while at the youth facility.
