Guam - Aside from remains, another discovery was made at Ylig Road project. Department of Agriculture Biologist Jeff Quitugua says during a site inspection today, they noticed more of the endangered Guam tree snails. He says the problem is contractors are throwing debris into the nearby jungle area, apparently attracting the snails to the site.
"They tend to move about and migrate throughout this whole forested area behind me and what attracts them to come closer to the construction site is the dead debris that have been cleared off," he said.
Hundreds of these endangered snails were relocated from the area. Quitugua says he is requiring signs be erected to prevent further harm to the endangered snails, or he says the contractors may face fines.
