Guam - Governor Eddie Calvo in his State of the Island Address earlier today mentioned the fight for Fena and a resolution introduced by Senator Tom Ada. "What the resolution will do is it will actually formalize the legislature's provision in objecting to these provisions," said the governor.
"And asking the congresswoman to introduce legislation that will remove these requirements and instead take a look at the model back in 1992 when the Navy turned over the power utilities to GPA. In that situation the only requirement was that GPA had to meet certain industrial performance standards and once those were met the navy then decided to become a customer of GPA and that has been the case for that past 20 years and they are now in the process of discussion to extend that for a longer period of time."
The resolution will go up for a public hearing on Friday at 2 in the afternoon in the legislature's public hearing room.
