Guam - A regional summit continues today at the Sheraton to address violence against women. According to executive director for the Guam Coalition for Sexual Assault and Family Violence Cynthia Cabot, the purpose of the conference is to create a safe, healthy and violence-free island community. Cabot says federal funds were used to bring in sister coalitions from other territories.

"Today we had our representatives from American Samoa, the U.S. Virgin Islands, Puerto Rico, our neighbor island the CNMI, as well as the District of Columbia because we also forget that they're a trust territory, as well. So we're all here and we also have representatives from the women united together in the Marshall Islands," said Cabot.

The Coalition had also launched a community advocate training program to address domestic violence and violence against women. The conference began on Monday and will conclude on Thursday.
