Guam - The southernmost village of Umatac is hosting the 38th Annual Discovery Day event this weekend at Umatac Bay.  Village mayor Dean Sanchez says the event promises an array of entertainment from local bands, games and food. The event will begin this weekend and will continue for the next three weekends in March.

Sanchez says a reenactment of Ferdinand Magellan landing on Guam will de conducted every Sunday for the next three weeks. "We want to portray from our side as Chamorros our version of the landing, the side that was never seen or even explained we want to make sure that this event signifies the important aspect of it and not discovery as people would put it because a lot of Chamorros say we were never lost," he said.

He says the Discovery Day event is scheduled to begin at 1pm.
