Guam - The House Armed Services Committee heard testimony today on the Navy's Fiscal Year 2012 budget request. Secretary of the Navy Ray Mabus and Chief of Naval Operations Admiral Gary Roughead took questions from the panel of congressional leaders on the future of the Navy and Marine Corps forces.

During today's budget hearing Hawaii congresswoman Colleen Hanabusa asked for Mabus to explain the $33 million that would be appropriated to address what she called "The Guam Situation" to mitigate the infrastructure and social impacts associated with the Marines relocation.

Mabus says the funding was part of the "One Guam, One Government" approach, which is key to the strategy to move the relocation forward.

According to the budget submitted from President Barack Obama it earmarks $33 million for the buildup outside the fence in Fiscal Year 2012.
