Guam - Senator Tina Muna Barnes says the concerns from the Guam Fire Department about a bill that would provide differential pay to airport firefighters who are EMT-b certified will be addressed. She says while there was positive testimony during Thursday's public hearing on the bill, she will make some amendments to the measure such as the percentage of how much more pay the airport firefighters may be getting for actual time performed.
"When you look at men and women at AARF performing these special duties with special qualifications and they should be paid that differential pay and this works in parity with GFD," said the senator.
Guam Fire testified in support of the bill but recommended several amendments including that all firefighters at GFD get the differential pay because they are all required to be EMT-b certified. Currently on firefighters assigned to the ambulance get the extra pay.
Barnes is hoping to have Bill 4 on the session floor next month.
