Guam - With the territory anticipating thousands of foreign workers to help with the billions in construction related to the military buildup, Senator Rory Respicio has sent a letter to Secretary of State Hillary Clinton. The Democrat lawmaker has asked that a labor attaché be specifically designated for Guam.
"They have someone in Saipan right now," the senator stated. "This person would be on Guam to monitor and to follow up on any complaints of alien labor abuse"
Respicio says the designee would come from the Philippine Department of Labor and employment and oversee the needs of guest workers in collaboration with Guam's DOL.
