Guam - The awarding of American Reinvestment and Recovery Act funded-related projects is coming along smoothly. According to Department of Education superintendent Dr. Nerissa Bretania Underwood, Governor Eddie Calvo has signed two contracts just recently to include one for the highly qualified teacher, and for professional development for educators and technology.
She says four more are currently being reviewed by the Attorney General's Office, with four more requests for proposal being announced. "We will be purchasing a new financial management system. This would greatly improve the efficiency of our financial and also our procurement and human resources services. We are very excited about this and there were three contracts related to anti bullying and also technology that have gone out this week," she said.
In meantime, Underwood says the architectural and engineering firm is making assessments at the schools in order to create specifications for more bids on ARRA-related projects.
