Guam - Governor Eddie Calvo met with labor representative for the Philippine Overseas Labor Office Carmeline Velasquez yesterday. She was joined by Philippine Consul General Bayani Mercado and Vice-Consul Maria Pax Cortes. Department of Labor Director Leah Beth Naholowaa coordinated the visit.
Calvo says the DOL will be working with apprenticeship programs and ensuring the local workforce takes advantage of this economic activity. Naholowaa and Velasquez are currently working with the Guam Contractors Association to come up with a standardized contract to be used for companies using guest workers for the military buildup.
