Guam - The Department of Education says the recent break-ins at the island's public schools are costing the government over $30,000. According to DOE Facilities and Maintenance Manager Billy Cruz, they've made assessments and those costs don't even include Astumbo Middle School and Okkodo High School. "The department is trying to find ways to ensure these break-ins stop. We will be working closely with our safety administrator in terms of finding solutions to this problem we're encountering," he said.
He says purchase orders have been cut for these repairs and these monies are coming from the General Fund. Cruz says he's hoping for all necessary repairs to be made before the students go back to class next week.
