Guam - The Federal Programs Office has received a $400,000 grant from the U.S. Department of Justice to assist with its efforts to open a Family Justice Center at the Guam Police Department's headquarters in Tiyan. Planning committee chair Father Mike Crisostomo says the efforts will make the process easier for victims of family violence. He says the one-stop center is expected to be in place within the next year.
"What we intend to do is to bring together under on roof all the service providers whether it be from Victims Advocates Reaching Out, Healing Hearts, the Alee Shelter, the court system, the Judiciary or the Guam Police Department," the priest told KUAM News.
The Federal Programs Office also reports that it received another $400,000 Safe Haven Grant to go towards the project as well as to Erica's House.
