Freedom Air plane purchase under scrutiny

by Mindy Aguon

Guam - A plane purchased by Freedom Air and brought to Guam earlier this month is the center of an investigation in American Samoa. According to Radio New Zealand International, the American Samoa Attorney General's Office is trying to determine what the government can do about a $150,000 debt.

A former South Pacific Express plane left the territory without obtaining a customs clearance and payment of more than $100,000 for landing fees. Freedom Air purchased that plane and brought it to Guam.  Freedom air owner Joaquin Flores declined to comment on the debt owed, saying he didn't believe the story was newsworthy.
