Guam - The Guam Land Use Commission was scheduled to hear two conditional use requests for temporary workers housing in preparation for the military buildup-related construction projects today. James Atkinson's request to convert the Hotel Mai'ana into temporary workers housing was continued until the next meeting as the chairman recused himself because of a conflict of interest and the board lacked quorum.
The Commission was also scheduled to discuss Younex's request for workforce housing at Ukudu. That project is on hold as the Guam Environmental Protection Agency issued a notice of violation and cease and desist order to STX Corporation, the company hired to construct the building.
