Guam - An outreach event was held at the Hagatna Mayor's Office to provide free health screenings to the island's homeless people from Tamuning and Hagatna. First Lady Joann Camacho says it was an opportunity for individuals to not only get screened, but to learn more about how to obtain jobs and about affordable housing opportunities.

The First Lady also presented a people's garden for the community, telling KUAM News, "It's basically teaching people how to plant vegetation, fruits and vegetables and flowers to beautify the island."

Camacho was also instrumental in creating several people's gardens at the homeless shelter in Dededo, the Salvation Army and even the Department of Youth Affairs up north.
