Guam - The entire island went dark at 7:25 this evening after several generators went offline.  Guam Power Authority Spokesperson Art Perez says the agency experienced some problems about 10 minutes prior to the blackout when Cabras 3 and 4 tripped. That caused outages for various villages but resulted in generators around the island going offline, causing the islandwide blackout.

As of 9:30 Wednesday evening, 20% of the island was restored, including parts of Tumon, Dededo, Barrigada, Yigo, Agana Heights, Anigua and parts of the south. Perez says GPA crews are working to establish station power at the Cabras 1, 2, 3 and 4 plants so the units can start producing electricity.

Power officials are optimistic power will be restored within the next 4-6 hours.
