Guam - 53 students and staff at Maria Ulloa Elementary School tested positive for tuberculosis and evaluations are underway to determine if they have active TB. The screening was conducted after a school employee was confirmed to have active tuberculosis.
TB Control Program Administrator Cecilia Arciaga says of those tested, 587 students tested negative for TB, while 92 students and staff cannot return to the campus until they are tested. Department of Public Health staffers are also conducting follow-up interviews on 77 students who tested positive in the past.
Arciaga says Public Health will conduct mass testing again in another three months.
