Guam - Criminal charges against a man once being investigated for possible ties to terrorism have been dismissed. The U.S. Attorney's Office moved to dismiss the indictment against Steven Vincent Zapata. According to the motion filed in the District Court, Zapata has surrendered to authorities in California, where he had an outstanding warrant for probation violations.
The Florida man came to Guam after spending a month in Pakistan and was charged for making a false statement about how many bags he brought with him to Guam. The feds found no evidence that he had any ties to terrorism and the charge was thrown out today.
