Guam - The Department of Public Health is currently investigating a case of tuberculosis at Maria Ulloa Elementary School in Dededo. Public Health says an employee was diagnosed with active TB and was released from school until cleared by a physician.

TB is carried through the air in infectious droplets, which is produced when persons cough, speak, and sneeze. Public Health will be at the school on October 5 from 8:30-11:30am to conduct TB screening.

All faculty, staff and students who do not complete skin tests by the 11th will be released from school until TB tests are completed.

Public Health will be sending out letters to staff, parents and guardians tomorrow.
