Guam - A police lieutenant has been demoted as an investigation is underway to determine if he was receiving pay for work he didn't actually perform at the Guam Police Department. KUAM News has confirmed that James Santos was demoted to the rank of Sergeant I.
A Government Corruption Task Force investigation is underway to determine whether Santos, who has a job outside of GPD, was receiving pay for time he spent at his job outside the force. Agency spokesperson Officer A.J. Balajadia could not confirm the demotion, saying personnel matters cannot be disclosed.
Santos is currently assigned to the Department's Training and Staff Division.
