Guam - Senator Judith Guthertz presented a legislative certificate to Ron Laguana today in recognition of his 3rd place finish during the 5th Annual La Paz 2010 World Cup Invitational Spear Fishing Championship. Joining Senator Guthertz were Senators Rory Respecio, Tina Muna Barnes along with Ron Laguana Sr.

Laguana said, "On behalf of our sport and our native people I just want to continue to show and perpetuate this technique of our harvest and to pass on the word that there is always another day so leave some behind for another day. Take what you can eat and not profit on our natural resources, especially during this time when the military build up is coming, and we will be expecting a lot more people who will show interest in this sport. Don't get me wrong, this is an amazing sport to ever get into and to me it's growing up as a kid learning from my father, my family and grandfather on how to harvest fish.

"And I'm very appreciative about that and I thank them too for teaching me this way of harvest."
