Guam - While the status of the JFK High campus is probably a topic of discussion during a Guam Education Policy Board meeting scheduled to be held this evening, the Department of Education will be giving the board a breakdown of the approved budget for Fiscal Year 2011. DOE Superintendent Dr. Nerissa Bretania Underwood says there are concerns because the budget was reduced by $12.5 million.

"Our concern with that was that when we received the grant for the State Fiscal Stabilization Fund to give us additional funds for technology, for CIP and for training, there were assurances that we had to make and the governor had to make to maintain a certain level of funding to demonstrate the maintenance of effort," she said.

Dr. Bretania Underwood says they also don't wan to jeopardize funding from the American Reinvestment and Recovery Act grant to apply for $20 million to help with the shortfall and create jobs to provide support in the schools.
