Guam - The Department of Education made a payment of $200,000 to the Guam Power Authority today for its promissory note, averting a shut down of public schools. GPA Spokesperson Art Perez says payment was made this afternoon.
Earlier this morning, lawmakers during legislative session passed Bill 444, introduced by Senator Ben Pangelinan, which provided the funds to DOE to pay its promissory note. The bill now heads to the Governor's Office for review.
The vote on Bill 444 was 14 'yes' and 1 excused absence.
