Guam - The Camacho Administration says the Department of Education will receive necessary funds to avert a shut down for public schools. Lieutenant Governor Mike Cruz says he was reassured by the fiscal policy team that DOE will be getting the funds it needs in the next several months.

Cruz told KUAM News, "It's part of the projections we've tracked along the way. It's a matter of seeing that as cash comes in, it will be set aside for the schools. We think we'll be able to meet the needs of the schools and that shouldn't affect the students or teachers."

DOE is projecting a $10 million shortfall for this fiscal year. Officials met with chairperson of the Committee on Education Speaker Judi Won Pat last week to discuss the financial situation. The department was in a similar predicament last school year.
