Bidders sought for waste transfer station

by Nick Delgado

Guam - Federal Receiver Gershman, Brickner & Bratton is soliciting expressions of interest from qualified organizations to provide a municipal solid waste transfer station. GBB states that the transfer station should be within 5 miles of the Department of Public Works compound.

The organization will be expected to receive municipal solid waste six days a week, load it into transfer trailers, and haul it to the new Layon landfill. GBB also requires the transfer station to divert material that can be recycled when activity is economically practical. GBB special principle associate David Manning states, "it is very important that the transfer station be properly permitted by the Guam Environmental Protection Agency prior to the time that the Layon Landfill opens."

He adds, "any interested party must already have a permitted transfer station or present convincing evidence of its ability to become properly permitted not later than March 2011." Expressions of Interest should be delivered to the DPW solid waste management office or emailed before August 20, 2010 to Linda Ibanez.
