Camacho up in Saipan for conference

by Nick Delgado

Guam - Governor Felix Camacho is attending the 13th Micronesian Chief Executives Summit in Saipan this week. He joins other leaders from the region for three days of talks that will focus on a number of issues including the creation of the Guam Job Corps Satellite Center as well as initiatives that will serve as the starting point for a regional program specific to youth pre-apprenticeship recruitment.

Governor Camacho states, "I will seek the support and commitment of my brothers in the region to establish a memorandum of understanding for our U.S. DOL registered apprenticeship programs." He adds, "We must invest in comprehensive talent development programs throughout our region that build our capacity to respond to the economic expansion we will see in Micronesia over the next decade."

The summit will also consider the creation of a Micronesia Cruise Task Force, which Camacho says will provide an ultimate goal of marketing "Magnificent Micronesia" in a way never seen before.
