Mayors speak up about ambulance shortage

Guam - It seems like the shortage of ambulances on island is putting distress on Guam's mayors, who are now starting to voice their concerns on the issue. Umatac mayor Dean Sanchez has voiced his frustrations on the taking of their ambulances in the southern part of the island. Sanchez feels that the chief of the Guam Fire Department is putting southern residents at risk because it is the furthest away from the only local hospital.

"Tell the chief please if you are going to make a decision make it on your behalf not on our behalf, this is our people and we fight for them," he explained.

However, GFD Acting Spokesperson Captain Ed Flores says the reason for the taking of the southern ambulances is to give an appropriate response to the entire community and the larger population in the north.
