Guam - A ribbon was cut this morning signifying the completion of the construction of the new southern police precinct. The construction of the facility began last August. P&E Construction was awarded $1.2 million to build the new building.
Precinct Commander Lieutenant Manny Chong said, "It's a brand new building. I'm excited. State of the art equipment. We have stuff here that none of the police precincts have and it's gonna make our jobs much easier."
The new precinct is 7,200 square feet and includes three holding cells, interview rooms, a gun vault, a training and fitness room as well as an emergency generator and water storage tank. The building was paid for by federal funding secured by the Guam Housing and Urban Renewal Authority.
The department is now looking to build precincts in Yigo and Talofofo.
