Collaborative effort overhauls Cabras generator

by Nick Delgado

Guam - Workgroups with the Guam Power Authority's Central Maintenance Department, Cabras Maintenance and Taiwan Electrical and Mechanical Engineering Services have teamed up for overhaul of Cabras Unit 1.  The teams will focus on generator turbine and generator maintenance as part of the five-year inspection cycle.

Crews will also test and repair the boiler, which in total will cost $3.2 million for operations and maintenance, plant improvement, capital improvement projects and labor expenses. GPA will complete the overhaul in 35 days, hoping to ultimately lower electric power bills for the island.
