Lacking quorum, GFT meeting called off

by Michele Catahay

Guam - The Executive Council under the Guam Federation of Teachers was supposed to meet during a regularly scheduled meeting tonight, but due to a lack of quorum, the meeting was canceled. GFT Member and former steward Carol Somerfleck had planned to attend the meeting to determine what her status is with the union.

Somerfleck resigned as the GFT steward. She had concerns about the leadership at the union, more specifically with current President Matt Rector and the amendments made to the constitution. Somerfleck says in addition, she says there are still lingering questions about financial issues at the GFT. While the meeting has since been canceled, she says she plans to attend the next meeting scheduled a couple of weeks from now.
