Inmate pleads not guilty to prison murder

by Mindy Aguon

Guam - Steven Albertson pleaded not guilty to aggravated murder and aggravated assault during an arraignment hearing today. Albertson is the only person arrested and charged with the murder of his fellow inmate, Arlen Feranco.

The two convicted murderers were serving life sentences in the Minimum Security Unit at the Department of Corrections.  Albertson told DepCor officers that he killed Feranco after he questioned the hierarchy of inmates within the prison.  Feranco was brutally beaten inside his cell.

Albertson meanwhile is scheduled to find out when he will go to trial on July 9 when he appears before Superior Court Judge Anita Sukola.
