Confirmation hearing for GEPB appointee

by Michele Catahay

Guam - A confirmation hearing is scheduled this Friday for the appointment of Teresa Pereda to serve as a member of the Guam Education Policy Board. Pereda was appointed by Governor Felix Camacho to sit on the board after a seat was left vacant by former board member Giovanni "Bunny" Sgambelluri.

Sgambelluri resigned after agreeing to work for the Department of Education as a deputy superintendent. GEPB Chair Ron Ayuyu says he will work with whoever is appointed to fill the seat, saying, "I'm not too sure who the individual is, but it's in the Kattan District and I'm willing to work with the individual that the governor will appoint and we'll be looking forward to working with him or her."

Pereda's hearing begins at 2pm on Friday.
