Fire extinguishers need to be in working order

Guam - The Department of Education is assessing schools to ensure all fire extinguishers districtwide are up to date and properly serviced. Education Suruhanu Dominic Terlaje and Public Health noted concerns that a majority of these extinguishers have expired.  DOE Supply Administrator Brian Mafnas says recently they've worked to supply extinguishers at Simon Sanchez High School and Southern High School, but they're also working on ensure all schools are being worked on.

"We're doing an assessment right now and...we're putting together specifications so we can get ahead of the inspections and make sure they're taken care of," he said.

Recent concerns were raised when schools received demerits during inspections for not having fully functional fire extinguishers.
