Guam - Congresswoman Madeleine Bordallo recently announced that the U.S. Department of Transportation's Maritime Administration has awarded a contract for program management services for the modernization and expansion of projects at the Port Authority of Guam. According to a release from Bordallo's office, the department will oversee the execution of the contract and funding will go through the Port of Guam Enterprise Improvement Fund.

Bordallo sponsored a provision that established the Fund in the Fiscal Year 2009 National Defense Authorization Act. She says the award demonstrates a commitment by the federal government to assist the Port. The contract needed to be in place in order for the department to execute the $50,000,000 that the Department of Defense is seeking congressional authorization to transfer.
