Airport firefighters to show at CSC hearing

Guam - Airport rescue firefighters are scheduled to appear at the Civil Service Commission this evening for a grievance hearing.  It doesn't appear that a settlement will be reached in the case.

AARF personnel have been fighting the elimination of their overtime hours that were cut as part of the Guam International Airport Authority's austerity measures that were implemented last May.  The reduction of hours resulted in a savings of about $700,000, which coincidentally is about the same amount that's needed to implement the certified technical professional positions study that is being evaluated by a committee of the airport board.

KUAM News has learned that some firefighters who are on duty today had requested to attend the hearing, but were denied by airport management.
