Guam - More than a dozen firefighters participated in extraction training today at the Lujan's Junkyard.  With federally-funded Jaws of Life equipment, Guam Fire Department Training Officer Captain Joseph Terlaje says the department brought in an expert, Ron Shaw, to help conduct basic, intermediate and advanced training courses on how to use the equipment properly and the safety features associated with it.

Today's scenario involved a bus that flipped over on two cars.

Added Terlaje, "Also things to look for when we're dealing with the extraction of vehicles we want to make sure that when our guys respond to these emergencies their not taking it for granted and these guys don't get hurt or the victims who are involved in the accident they don't get hurt, as well."

Next week GFD will begin the train the trainer course.  15 personnel from the Guam Fire Department and 2 firefighters from Andersen Air Force Base are participating in the courses.
