Guam - Just after 4pm today, the Department of Education had said it was making payment totaling $1.2 million to the Guam Power Authority. DOE was supposed to meet a noon deadline today, but the check was cut late this afternoon.
GPA threatened to cut off power to facilities if payment wasn't made. Agency spokesperson Art Perez says DOE had advised customer service that payment will be made before one o'clock tomorrow.
Perez says if GPA doesn't get the check, they will proceed with initiating a plan to disconnect.
