Guam - Now that they've got federal carry over funds, the Department of Education is already spending the $8.3 million. Superintendent Dr. Nerissa Bretania Underwood says $4.5 million was immediately used to reimburse local funds that had been used to keep the programs going, while the remainder will go toward keeping federal programs going.
"Eskuelen Puengi, we can order our SAT-10 materials, e can continue the alternative education. We can continue with ESL - a program for our students that are limited language proficient. We can continue to support our reading programs like Success For All and Direct Instruction," said Underwood.
