Guam - Congresswoman Madeleine Bordallo will take part in an economic adjustment committee meeting this Thursday focused on Guam's civilian infrastructure requirements for the military buildup. Bordallo says she'll use the meeting, which is being hosted by the Department of Defense and the White House Office of Intergovernmental Affairs, as an "opportunity to give a wake up call to federal agencies" that Guam needs more federal assistance.
Virginia senator Jim Webb is also working on Guam's behalf in Washington. He's already contacted the White House about ensuring that available money from the stimulus package is appropriated to meet the Port Authority of Guam's infrastructure needs. Last week, the Department of Transportation denied the PAG's request for a $49,000,000 American Reinvestment and Recovery Act TIGER grant that would have gone towards the agency's modernization master plan.
