Guam - Eleven people have so far shown interest in the senatorial seat left vacant by Matt Rector. Guam Election Commission Executive Director John Blas says Dr. Dennis Borja and recently-resigned Mental Health Director Dr. David Shimizu picked up packets from their office yesterday. Blas urges interested candidates to call the GEC's office before picking up a packet.

He said, "That way, they can verify if they are eligible based on the criteria and they can come down and pick up a packet, if not they can pick up a packet anyway because we're still going to have to take it through that process of requiring or requesting certain documentation."

Blas adds that he is still waiting for confirmation from the Legislature whether he can pull from the GEC's budget to fund the special election.
