Guam - Reacting to comments made by Vice-Speaker B.J. Cruz, Department of Public Works Director Larry Perez says the proposed new road between Marine Corps Drive and South Finegayan is part of both the 2030 Transportation Plan, as well as the Draft Environmental Impact Statement.

Perez says the road will be constructed completely with federal funds, adding that the plans will benefit the island's motorists rather than the military alone.  "It's all towards redirecting the traffic and widening roads, hardening roads, creating new roads, to assure that when the military comes here it'll be controlled, it'll be within reason and at minimum impact to our people," Perez said.

Perez adds the plans for the new road have been in place for the past two years.
