Tenorio bill combats underage drinking

Guam - Senator Ray Tenorio introduced legislation to fight underage drinking on Guam. His Underage Drinking House Parties Act imposes fines for adults who allow minors to drink alcohol on their property, and further punishes adults who sell or serve alcohol to minors.

The measure itself was written by Senator Tenorio's youth counterpart, Christian Sumalpong, during last year's Island Leadership Day. Tenorio states, "Adults who are reckless enough to encourage underage drinking this way should be punished.  We cannot tolerate this amount of irresponsibility, especially when it could be at the cost of a child's life."

Tenorio also reminds residents that drinking at a young age can have serious consequences, such as liver damage, stunted development, and injury or death.
