Guam - The Guam Healthcare and Hospital Development Foundation received a check for $10,000 this morning from Hidenobu Takagi of Takagi & Associates.  The Foundation is credited with recruiting a developer and operator for what they hope will be Guam's first private hospital.

The donation will be put towards advancing the foundation's goal of improving healthcare information and education in the community.  Chairman Pete Sgro says the foundation has already put on six health-related conferences, and has another planned for February.

"The speaker that we're talking with is a director of the Joint Commission," Sgro said.  "She's been on Oprah, CNN, she's known nation-wide as a patient advocate. We're going to do that conference together with the Mayor's Council of Guam."
